The Outsiders Character Dress-Up Day - Friday, 12/15:
We will continue to celebrate finishing our class read of the novel The Outsiders! On Friday, 12/15, come to school dressed as your favorite greaser or Soc! Take a class photo and participate in other fun activities on this celebration day. All students who come to class dressed will earn an extra credit point! * Please note: We follow all of the TMS guidelines regarding dressing up in costumes in our classroom. That means no masks, toy weapons, or other items not appropriate to wear or bring into school. *
Extra Credit Opportunity: Where Are They Now? Full-Length Story
If you have a great story to tell about the future lives of one or more of the characters from The Outsiders, then this is the PERFECT extra credit opportunity for you! For this extra credit opportunity, use your "Where Are They Now?" Google Doc and what you already know about good storytelling to write a story about one or more of the characters revealing what his or her life is like (or their lives are like) 10-15 into the future. Type this story into a new Google Doc and share it with me. It needs to be a minimum of 2 1/2 pages and double-spaced. The proper heading should be at the top (Assignment Name: "Where Are They Now?" Extra Credit). Please let me know when your final draft is complete and shared with me so I know to look for it. This extra credit opportunity must be submitted by Friday, 1/5. You will earn +1 extra credit for completing this extra credit opportunity.
HAVE FUN! I am excited to find out what happens to Ponyboy, his brothers, and his friends in the future!
Independent Reading Form for MP2 Extra Credit:
- Have you been reading an IR book while we've been reading The Outsiders as a class?
- Do you love to talk about books with others and get people excited to read the ones you're reading?
- Do you love to earn extra credit?
Then this extra credit opportunity is for YOU!
Complete the independent reading form posted in Google Classroom by Monday, 12/11. Keep in mind that you do have to finish the book first before you can answer all of the questions! Also be sure to tell me in class or send me an email to let me know you've completed this extra credit, so I know to look for it.
I'm excited to hear about the IR books you've been reading and have you share in class about them when we return to IR!
